Liturgical Ministries

We invite parishioners to actively serve and enrich our shared celebration of the Mass.

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable.

LECTOR

For those with strong public speaking skills and a clear voice, this role involves proclaiming the Scripture readings at Sunday Mass, helping bring the Word of God to life for the congregation. Readers follow a regular monthly roster, allowing for preparation and consistency.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTER OF HOLY COMMUNION

An important role during the celebration of the Eucharist, Communion Ministers assist with distributing the consecrated bread and wine to the congregation. This ministry fosters connection and reverence for the sacred act of Communion. Volunteers are scheduled on a regular monthly roster.

ALTAR SERVER

This role is ideal for young people aged 10–17, who assist the priest during Sunday Mass. Responsibilities include carrying candles, managing vessels, handling liturgical books, and ensuring the smooth flow of the service. Altar servers are rostered monthly, fostering responsibility and involvement in the Mass.

SACRISTAN

A behind-the-scenes but crucial role, sacristans prepare the church for Mass and other celebrations, such as weddings. Duties include setting up vessels, altar items, and candles, and ensuring everything is in place for the liturgy. They also assist in tidying up afterward.

MUSICIAN / SINGER

Whether playing the organ, keyboard, guitar, or leading the singing, musicians and singers help uplift and inspire the congregation through music. Their role is to enhance the liturgy and encourage active participation. Volunteers typically follow a monthly schedule.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY LEADER

Leads a separate Liturgy of the Word tailored for children during the 8 AM Sunday Mass. Leaders are responsible for engaging the children with age-appropriate prayers and reflections to help them understand and connect with the Gospel. This role operates on a regular monthly roster.

USHERS / COLLECTORS

This role involves greeting parishioners warmly at the church doors, handing out service booklets or other materials, and creating a welcoming environment. Volunteers also assist with taking up the collections during Mass, contributing to the parish’s practical needs.

ART AND CHURCH DECOR

Focuses on beautifying the church for special seasons, rites, and celebrations. Volunteers prepare floral arrangements, banners, and other decorative elements that enhance the sacred atmosphere and reflect the liturgical calendar.

PARISH LITURGY COMMITTEE

A collaborative group that meets monthly to plan the liturgies for Sundays, sacraments, and major feasts. This committee coordinates with other liturgical ministries to ensure everything runs smoothly and reflects the spiritual needs of the parish.

MEDITATION REFLECTION GROUP

A welcoming group that meets weekly on Wednesday mornings to share an hour of peaceful meditation and spiritual reflection. It’s an opportunity for parishioners to grow in faith, find solace, and strengthen their connection to God and one another.

Pastoral Ministries

Offer comfort, care, and companionship to those in need in our parish community.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

Providing leadership and guidance for all areas of parish life, ensuring a vibrant and well-supported community. Nominations and elections take place in even-numbered years, with meetings held monthly.

DEANERY PASTORAL COUNCIL

Acting as a bridge between the parish and the wider deanery, representing our community and encouraging active participation in deanery initiatives.

VISITATION & COMMUNION FOR THE SICK

Bringing comfort, companionship, and the Eucharist to the sick and elderly, whether at home or in aged care facilities, ensuring they remain connected to the parish.

TRANSPORT MINISTRY

Helping those in need attend Sunday Mass by providing transport. Assistance may also be available for other parish events and gatherings.

PARISH HOSPITALITY

Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere by organising morning tea after the 8 AM Mass (twice a month) and hosting occasional parish social events that foster connection and community.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

Extending hands of compassion by providing food, furniture, and practical assistance to those in need. Volunteers meet every Thursday evening to coordinate support efforts.

CASSEROLE BANK

Offering home-cooked meals to individuals and families facing challenges by preparing and freezing casseroles for those in need.

MINISTRY TO THE BEREAVED & ELDERLY

Providing kindness and care by serving refreshments after funerals for grieving families and after the Anointing of the Sick for the elderly.

PLAYGROUP

A welcoming space where young children and their parents gather every Thursday morning to play, connect, and build friendships within the parish community.

YOUTH MINISTRY

Empowering young people to grow in faith and community through engaging activities, social events, and opportunities to actively participate in parish life.

Educational Ministries

Nurture faith, guide others on their spiritual journey, and grow together in the love of Christ.

RCIA: CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

A dedicated team of leaders, catechists, and sponsors guiding adults on their journey to baptism and/or confirmation at Easter. Weekly sessions provide faith formation, support, and community.

BAPTISM PREPARATION

Helping parents understand the significance of their child’s baptism, their role in nurturing faith, and the meaning of the baptismal liturgy.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION TEAM

Supporting children and their parents as they prepare for the sacraments of First Penance, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion, fostering a deeper understanding of faith.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION

Encouraging lifelong faith development through home discussion groups during Lent and Easter, as well as organising occasional lectures, seminars, and workshops.

SOCIAL JUSTICE GROUP

Promoting awareness and action in response to the Gospel’s call for justice and peace, leading initiatives that support the dignity and rights of all.
